As a child, Barbie was not my favorite toy/doll. In fact, she served only as pleasure slave to my favorite. Yes I was a messed up eight year old. <3
My favorite was, of course, G.I. Joe. Not too hard to see why since my dad's a lifer in the Air Force. I always loved my action figures; they fought off the baddies, and somehow managed to save the day and sleep with the girl. Who they then left for greener pastures. I was a pretty realistic kid, if I do say so myself.
Low and Behold there is a movie coming out ver. ver. soon if not already that has such a thing as this, my childhood love. With these commercials I have refound my past and come to terms with something I am not exactly proud of.
I like G.I. Joe fanfic entirely more than I should.
And I found /GOOD/ fanfic.
Enter Sinsofwill [link] BRILLIANT writer. EXCELLENT plotter. FANTASTIC characterization. NOT EVEN CAPSLOCK CAN GET THIS ACROSS. So, I am now sucked into the world of awesome interpersonal drama between my childhood heroes. I am totally happy about this. Then I realize I'm being spoiled as none, bar none of the episodes were even a third this good.
So yeah. If you have a moment, talk about your ungodly beautiful/horrible fanfic fixation. Mine is lovely, but I know those of my friends who only see Japanimation as fangirl worthy. So! Discuss! Bare yer souls for all to seeeee.

"Well, theres your way, and then theres the fun way. I've had half a pack of Peep's and a two litre of Mountain Dew. Which way, do you think, sounds better to me at this point?"

One of my first big fandoms was Gundam Wing. I still hold a little place in my heart for it, though know after rewatching the show several times, I wonder where the hell some of my ideas came from. They were spawned by Jade - an epic yaoi fanfic writer who's Heero/Duo fanfic nommed the hell out of my brain. I still read her stuff every now and then, though it's only when I'm in one of those nostalgic moods when none of my other obsessions seem interesting.
Currently, as I'm sure you know Mel-chan, I'm hopelessly addicted to Harry/Draco slash fanfiction. Calanthe [link] has given me some of the more... racy fic that I'm surprised I like. She's an amazing writer, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't squee a little whenever I see that she's updated.
Another H/D writer that I think is FANTASTIC is Faith Wood [link] She's brilliant and I squee every time she updates in an almost embarrassingly fangirly way.
My newest obsession to reassert itself is Drake & Josh fanfic, which noms the hell out of my brain all the damn time - seriously, the show is filled with slashy over/undertones so intense that I'm surprised it actually got aired on Nick. I haven't managed to pinpoint that amazing writer that I love all of their stuff, though Abusing_Sarcasm [link] is doing a pretty good job. (She also does a bunch of my favorite Potter-verse fic)
OH! And I'm totally probably going to squee at you after I see G.I. Joe tomorrow. (Also, lookit this: [link] it's awesome)

So what's the symbology there?
ALSO BARONESS. Now that I'm running again, I'm thinking of a Baroness cosplay! I even have my own sewing machine for such endeavors. I also have a steam costume in the works haha
