Once upon a time there was a rather ordinary girl, who lived an extraordinary life. Her father was in the military, and so the girl got to travel the world. However, she found it hard to make friends because they were always on the move.

One day, while exploring the local park, she stumbled past the ordinary pond she knew and onto some magical ocean. The water was sapphire blue and the sky was the exact shade of the inside of a robins egg. Mesmerized, she stepped into the world, not noticing the door to her own world was slowly closing. Stepping into the water, she heard the mewling of kittens and full meows of cats.

All around her in the water was frolicking, swimming cats! She played with them for many hours, until one pushed at her legs. He was the very finest of these water cats, and so she followed him. He lead her to her door, which was only just now big enough… for a cat.

The little girl almost cried at the thought of never seeing her family again, when the kitten at her feet mewled, and suddenly she too was a cat! Jumping through the portal, she found herself home… but still a cat. Looking at the other kitten, she watched him make the decision; he jumped through too, and as the door closed, he turned her back into a human girl, making himself a boy.

Thusly I met Alexander, watercat, elemental and boy all in one.

We had many adventures, including finding out true, big-cat forms, (I was the puma, he was a blue panther), fighting evil beings in the past, and jumping into all of my favorite books and showing the heroes how it’s done.

Sadly, as I grew up, I didn’t grow out of Alex; instead, I fell in love with him. In the manner of his people, he was fickle; while he might have loved me back, I couldn’t feel him, couldn’t touch him, except in dreams. So I pined after my watercat, my only, for years. I still do in some way, though we have made peace with the fact we can never really be together. Now he is one of my muses, and very dear to my heart.
